Help, My Cat is Trying to Escape Through the Front Door, What Can I Do?

If you find that your cat is always waiting by the front door waiting for any opportunity to bolt out of the house and escape there could be several reasons for it. I'll go over some of these reasons and what you can do to stop it.

First of all do its best to have your cat spayed or neutered. This is probably the primary reason why your cat is trying to bolt out of the house. If there are other cats around the house and it is breeding season, your cat will have a strong urge to try and mate with them.

Another reason why in your cat may be trying to get outside is because it is bored inside. If you think that this is the case buy some more toys. Also try to play with your cat at least 15 minutes twice a day. There are many electronic toys that can keep your cat active as well as laser pointers you can buy.

If your cat is waiting by the door to get out when you come home try to open the door slowly just a little and toss a toy inside to try and get away from the front door.

Again if your cat is trying to escape use these tips to try and keep them away from the front door. Also make sure that your cat has a collar with an ID or is microchipped. Keeping your indoor cats safe should be your number one priority.
